Ingredients and materials

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 2 very ripe pears, or pears cooked until soft
  • 150 g fresh ripe strawberries
  • Individual bowls, forks and clean serving utensils

Make it together

  1. Confirm that each selected fruit is permitted for participating children. The educator checks individual feeding and allergy instructions.
  2. An adult washes, peels, removes cores and prepares fruit into the required safe texture and shape. Do not use whole grapes, skewers or hard raw pieces.
  3. Place prepared fruit in separate clean bowls. Children can name colours and choose an approved combination for their own bowl.
  4. Support children to mash or mix with a fork. Keep utensils and bowls individual.
  5. Offer the finished fruit while children are seated and supervised. Respect a child’s decision not to taste.

Before the children join in

  • The absence of a major declared allergen does not make a fruit suitable for every child.
  • No honey is included. Check the child’s developmental feeding plan rather than assuming one size or texture suits the whole room.
  • Do not return handled food or a used spoon to a shared supply.
