Ingredients and materials

  • 6 small plain flatbreads; check the complete label
  • 250 g cooked mashed pumpkin
  • 150 g cooked soft broccoli, finely chopped
  • 150 g cooked soft carrot, prepared to the required texture
  • Individual plates, spoons, clean utensils and an adult-operated oven

Make it together

  1. The cook checks all ingredients and prepares vegetables to the approved texture. Manage cooked ingredients under the centre’s time and temperature controls.
  2. Give each child an individual flatbread and approved portions of vegetables.
  3. Spread pumpkin over the base. Arrange the soft vegetables as a garden, using spoons rather than sharing hand-contact ingredients.
  4. An adult heats or serves the flatbread using the centre’s approved process. If heating, keep children clear of hot equipment and verify the applicable service checks.
  5. Let the flatbread reach an appropriate serving temperature, then an adult cuts it to suit each child.

Before the children join in

  • Check the bread label every time; milk, sesame, soy or other allergens may be present in a different brand.
  • No whole cherry tomatoes, hard raw vegetable sticks or sharp skewers are used.
  • Offer texture alternatives only after individual review. A soft topping does not make every bread base appropriate for every child.
