Separate the jobs
Keep raw food away from ready-to-eat food during storage and preparation. Use the centre’s designated equipment and work areas. Finish and clear one task before setting up another. Keep phones, bags and paperwork away from food-contact surfaces.
Clean, then sanitise
Remove scraps, wash away grease and food residue, rinse, then use the approved sanitising method. Follow the product’s dilution, contact-time and rinsing instructions. Air-dry where the procedure requires it. Sanitising a dirty surface is not a substitute for cleaning.
Hands and equipment
Wash hands at the required points in the centre’s procedure, including after raw food, waste or other contaminating tasks. Gloves do not replace handwashing. Change them between tasks. Demonstrate the correct thermometer cleaning process before using it across different foods.
After a play session
Discard used sensory mixture under the centre’s procedure; do not put it back into food supplies. Wash play equipment separately from food preparation and restore the work area before food work resumes. Cleaning products stay labelled and stored away from food.
Make the record useful
Record the job and time after completing it. If cleaning cannot be completed, record the problem, contain its effect and notify the responsible person. A photograph can explain an issue, but it cannot verify that an invisible hazard has been removed.
